On July 31, 2022, the 9th International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians (ICCM) opened in Nanjing, and Gao Chen, professor of the Institute of Geometry and Physics, USTC, was awarded the Silver Medal of the ICCM Mathematics Prize for his important contributions to the intersection of geometric analysis and algebraic geometry.
The ICCM Mathematics Prize (formerly the Morningside Mathematics Prize) is the highest award in Chinese mathematics, known as the “Chinese Fields Award”, which recognizes Chinese mathematicians under the age of 45 who have made outstanding achievements in pure mathematics and applied mathematics as well as have made extraordinary contributions to promoting the development of mathematics.
