We prove that the spectral diameter with integer coefficients of the Hamiltonian group of CP^n is infinite, in contrast to the case of field coefficients. We explore this phenomenon further and provide applications to Hofer's geometry, Hamiltonian dynamics, and a question of Hingston. This is joint work with Yusuke Kawamoto.
