Cone spherical metrics on compact Riemann surfaces are conformal metrics with curvature +1 and finitely many cone singularities. An open problem in the study of these metrics is whether there exists a cone spherical metric with prescribed singularities on a compact Riemann surface. In this talk, I will present a correspondence between cone spherical metrics and rank two polystable parabolic vector bundles with nontrivial meromorphic sections. This is a project in progress with Bin Xu.
