On a Riemannian n-manifold equipped with a parallel (n-4)-form, one can define instantons that generalizes the usual ASD instantons on 4-manifolds. Such instantons are characterized by its minimizing property of the Yang-Mills functional, and include HYM, G2, Spin(7) instantons as examples. In this talk, I will discuss the dimension reduction phenomenon of such instantons defined over product Riemannian manifolds, and explain its relation with the topological type of the principal bundle. I will give a complete description for such moduli spaces, and present a well-behaved compactification when one factor in the product manifold has dimension 4. This is joint work with Dylan Galt.
